About Ad Ranking

Ad Royalty, Reviewed. A magazine that scores advertising on the same five criteria and shows its working.

Ad Ranking is a magazine about advertising that is willing to give a verdict. Every campaign we cover is scored on the same five criteria, out of 100, and the score sits next to the review where you can argue with it.

What we publish

  • Campaigns. Individual reviews with full credits, verified results and a Crown Score. Who made it, why it worked, and what to steal.
  • Rankings. Ordered lists of the best work: TV, print, Christmas, rebrands, and the campaigns every marketer should know.
  • Policy. ASA rulings explained every month, the UK rules in plain English, and what Meta, Google and TikTok will actually let you run.
  • Craft. How great advertising gets made, from the brief to the measurement.

How we score

Idea, Craft, Bravery, Effectiveness and Legs, each marked out of ten and weighted to a total of 100. The full method, with the campaigns that score high and low on each criterion, is in What makes a good advert? How we score every campaign. Scores are revisited when new effectiveness evidence appears.

Who makes it

Ad Ranking is written by people who plan, buy and review advertising for a living, which is why the credits block matters to us as much as the verdict. We have no advertisers, no sponsored slots and no awards to sell, so the score is the only thing we are protecting.

Corrections and credits

If we have a credit wrong, a result out of date, or a ruling misread, tell us on LinkedIn or X and we will fix it and note the change on the article.
