Coach, 2026.
Coach has built its autumn campaign around a bus. In “Live Your Story”, Elle Fanning plays a tour bus driver who picks up four rising musicians one by one, among them the British pop star PinkPantheress, and the film sets up a real bus tour and a global partnership with Spotify.
Who is in the Coach advert
Alongside Fanning, a fixture of Coach’s marketing, the films feature PinkPantheress, the Korean singer-songwriter Soyeon, the Japanese singer-songwriter Lilas and the Chinese singer Shan Yichun. A dozen Gen Z fans of the artists appear too. Vincent Haycock directed all four films, which move each character from isolation to company as the bus fills up, and every one of them carries a custom Tabby bag, the product the whole thing exists to sell.
What the Spotify deal adds
Spotify is building a “Live Your Story” hub where listeners can find playlists and share a personalised listening persona, and the two companies are running the Tabby Tour, a roving bus hosting live performances and conversations with the artists, Marketing Dive reported. Coach chief marketing officer Joon Silverstein said the idea answers Gen Z’s wish to “spend less time behind screens and connect more deeply in real life”. The campaign film went up on Coach’s own channel in mid-September, on the back of New York Fashion Week.
Why it is smarter than it looks
Fashion campaigns usually rent a famous face for a season. Coach is renting four audiences, in four of its biggest markets, and wrapping them in one film, which is a far more efficient way to buy relevance in South Korea, Japan, China and Britain at once. The casting is the media plan.
It also fits what the numbers say about where attention now lives. IAB UK reported this week that UK creator revenue will pass £1bn this year, and a musician with a fanbase is simply a creator with better songs. The contrast with JCPenney casting schoolteachers in the same fashion month is neat: one brand borrows fame, the other borrows trust, and both are betting that a model alone no longer sells a handbag.
